DO YOU FEEL STUCK?

You have tried traditional physical therapy, chiropractors, massages, acupuncture, and the relief didn’t last. Your pain is on your mind every waking moment and you are beginning to lose hope. I understand. I have been there too. What made a difference for me I want to share with you. This might be the solution that you have been looking for.

WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL RELEASE?

What I discovered was John F. Barnes myofascial release. Myofascial release uses a gentle sustained pressure held for at least 3-5 minutes on fascial restrictions to restore tissue elasticity, decrease pain and increase mobility.  I will teach you self care exercises so you can maintain your current gains and be equipped to prevent future fascial restriction from trauma and stress.

WHAT ARE FASCIAL RESTRICTIONS?

Stress, trauma, surgeries and poor posture create inflammatory responses, which can result in fascial restrictions. Which is a big deal! These restrictions can put up to 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch on multiple areas of your body. Ouch!

To understand fascial restrictions you need a basic knowledge of fascia. Your fascial system is a interwoven network of fibrous, elastic connective tissue that surrounds your muscle, bone, blood vessels, nerves, organs all the way down to the cellular level. Imagine a single continuous three dimensional structure from head to toe. That is what fascia is.

The importance of fascia is the stability it provides. Think about the poles on a tent or the white fibrous material in an orange.  That is what fascia does. When the poles get damaged the tent suffers. The same with your fascia. If it is damaged your body suffers.

About Hanna

Hanna Simmons is a licensed physical therapist that specializes in John F. Barnes myofascial release (MFR) techniques. She graduated from Midwestern University with a doctorate in physical therapy. She has over 10 years of experience working in various settings from birth to geriatric populations. Hanna was introduced to MFR when a chronic pain patient had MFR treatment by a PT covering her while she was on vacation. She was intrigued with how much pain relief her chronic pain patient reported and wondered if MFR could ease her own discomfort. After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2013, Hanna struggled with discomfort from limited neck mobility after her two surgeries. After attending courses, receiving MFR treatments, and performing self-care treatment, Hanna is living her life with her husband, Scott and two kids, Sophie and Jack with less pain and more mobility and wants to share it with people who want that too!
